I don’t listen to a ton of podcasts, but I recently caught an interview between Tim Ferriss and Casey Neistat.
Tim asked him, “Is it too late to start on YouTube?”
Guess what year this interview was from?
2015.
Imagine thinking it was "too late" to start YouTube… in 2015!
We uploaded our first YouTube video in March 2023, and today we’re almost at 370K subscribers.
My point? It’s NEVER too late to start.
Here’s the thing: the #1 excuse I hear from people who want to start a business is this:
“Pat… it’s too late. Every idea is taken.”
And honestly? It makes me so mad 😡 because it’s total bullsh*t.
Every day, I see another app that’s almost identical to a billion-dollar competitor.
The only difference? They figured out a unique angle, niche, or market.
One founder put it perfectly:
“I realized there were a lot of competitors, and at first I was disappointed. But then I understood—it meant the market was validated. I just needed to build the best product in the niche.”
Here’s the truth:
- If there are competitors, that’s a good sign—people are already spending money there.
- You don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Just do it differently.
- Success comes from execution, not waiting for the “perfect” idea.
Erase these from your vocabulary:
Too late.
Already taken.
Shift your mindset and start building.
